On Saturday, March 10, 2018, the 13th Congress of the Croatian Association of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons was held at the Sheraton Hotel in Zagreb, supported by our partner clinic “Svjetlost” Zagreb. This year, a one-day congress was organized which presented the experiences in the previous work, as well as the innovations in the field of refractive surgery, cataracts, glaucoma, retina and others. 300 domestic and foreign ophthalmologists were present.
Like last year, this year too, our ophthalmic surgeons Dr. Zlatko Arnaudovski and Dr. Biljana Kostovska excellently presented the results of previous research conducted in “Sistina Ophthalmology” in the field of cataract and refractive surgery. Dr. Fanka Gilevska paid more attention to the experiences with keratoconus in Macedonia, while Dr. Viktorija Fileva pointed out our way of treating ocular trauma with combined strabismus surgery and keratoplasty by applying world standards in that field.
Diagnosis and operation of strabismus have been available in Macedonia since 2015, with the opening of the Department of Refractive Surgery, together with our partner clinic “Svjetlost”, Zagreb.
In the section “Youth in Ophthalmology” our Dr. Stefan Mladenovski, who is currently on specialization in the clinic “Svjetlost” in Zagreb, had his presentation on “Eylea in the treatment of chronic CSR”.
Last year, in November, with our partner “Svjetlost” Zagreb, we organized our II symposium “Novelties in Ophthalmology” which was attended by ophthalmologists, general practitioners, endocrinologists and trainees, because to improve the approach to the treatment of health and eye diseases in Macedonia, an integral approach is required.
